A lakeside Montana wedding filled with joy, breathtaking mountain views, and sentimental moments – Brittany & Zach’s special day was filled with inspiration and personal touches.
Their Love Story Begins
Zachary and Brittany met in the parking lot of a country concert. Both were tailgating with friends and happened to park next to each other. Long story short, Brittany and her friend ended up needing to “borrow” a wine bottle opener, and one of Zach’s friends (Mariana) happened to have one. The ladies used it and then kept finding excuses to leave their group of friends they came with and go back to the car.
Eventually, they just kept talking and agreed to head into the concert together. Zach jokingly told Brittany he was a hot air balloon pilot when really he was a firefighter and then smooth-talked his way into their first kiss. From that moment on, they were inseparable.

Their Proposal Story
Brittany and Zach took a month-long road trip with their first pup (at the time), Hank, before Brittany started PA school. They wanted a little getaway and last hurrah before the madness began. During their trip, they went sightseeing in Glacier, which at the time was unsurprisingly SUPER crowded.
Zach was trying to find the perfect spot to propose all day, but it was all so crazy, and couldn’t find a moment alone. As they were heading back out of the park, they pulled over at a small turnout and decided to sit along a cliff of rocks overlooking a waterfall and crystal clear river—Hank right by their side, of course. By this time, they were all really hungry, and Brittany kept saying she was ready for dinner.
Zach reached into their backpack and pulled out what Brittany expected to be a snack but instead was pleasantly shocked. Zach professed his love along the cliff, and a stunned and emotional Brittany immediately said yes. Thus was the start of the next chapter of their lives and the true beginning of a beautiful adventure.
Their Wedding Day
The Sweeney’s wed at The Lodge at Whitefish Lake in a waterfront ceremony with stunning mountain views and an elegant tent reception.
The save the date cards sent to family and friends read ‘Save the Date! See You at the Lake’.
Here are a few of Brittany + Zach’s favorites from the day:
- Becoming husband & wife!!!
- Etched bride & groom glasses received as a gift from family and friends
- Boat ride with the wedding party
- All family & friends attending even in the middle of a pandemic
And also some memorable moments:
- Zach’s little “surprise”…shhhh
- Bride’s sister gifted her photos of their mother and grandmothers, which she had made to tie to the bouquet
- Memory tree to honor all of those family and friends that were unable to be there
- Photographer Kelly coming to the rescue for blisters on the bride’s feet
- All of the photos, flowers, and toasts
Brittany was stunning in her halter style, open back gown. Her hair cascaded in long, flowing waves and held a floral crown fit for a Goddess. The bride’s bouquet was a masterpiece of gorgeous florals and fresh greens, tied together with ribbon in classic black.
The Surprise First Look
The couple’s first look was an unforgettable moment. The bridal party helped Zach find his way to see Brittany for the first time as a bride.
The Bridal Party
It’s all in the details…and the bridal party was no exception! Everything from the groomsmen’s mini bouquet boutonnieres to the fun and flowing bridesmaid gowns to the bountiful flowers made this summer lake wedding shine.
In classic black gowns, each uniquely styled—Brittany’s bridesmaids proudly stood with their bride. Bouquets in creams and pinks matched the bride’s florals.
With beach-inspired vibes, the groomsmen’s attire was relaxed and fun in neutral shades complimenting the bridesmaids’ bold black.
Brittany and Zach tied the knot on the shores of Whitefish Lake. Guests were greeted by a customized welcome sign, and gorgeous textured florals and greenery could be seen throughout.
Smiles were abundant as family and friends watched the bride and groom exchange their marital vows under a unique eucalyptus-wrapped triangular arch.
Wedding Party Boat Ride
Pop the bubbly – they’re hitched! Brittany, Zach, and their bridal party enjoyed a wedding day adventure on the gorgeous waters of Whitefish Lake. With breathtaking views, the newlyweds cruised the crystal-clear lake while celebrating the day’s events.
The celebration continued! Under a bright and airy canopy, guests celebrated alongside the bride, groom, and bridal party. With bold gold and rustic accents, the cheery reception décor included petite floral centerpieces, a rustic-inspired seating chart, and a “holy matrimony” donut wall – YUM!
Guests dined on delicious entrees prepared by the all-inclusive Lodge at Whitefish Lake. And in addition to donuts, a naked, three-tiered cake adorned with simple florals served as the evening’s dessert.
Brittany and Zach’s wedding was truly a joyous, memorable day. Surrounded by the love of their family and friends and the beautiful backdrop of Whitefish Lake, the happy couple began their lives together as husband and wife.
