Red Lodge Mountain Resort, 10/3/21

We may be biased, but we truly believe that there is no better way to ring in a marriage than being surrounded by Montana’s beautiful mountainscapes. From the peaks of Glacier National National Park to the Beartooth Mountain Range elegantly surrounding the beautiful town of Red Lodge, Montana, the only thing more special than Montana’s vast landscapes is the marriages celebrated among them – each beautiful and unique in their own way!

We are honored to share Monica & David’s intimate wedding in Red Lodge, MT. From the stunning mountain-inspired venue to Monica’s wedding day glam, and even their unique wedding decor, this big day is truly in a class of itself!

Jessie Hardy Photography, a Cheers MT Vendor, perfectly captured the Schwomeyer’s big day. Based in Scobey, MT, Jessie is passionate about capturing moments that are full of movement, laughter, and warm tones. As she puts it:

From the relationships I make with the bride, to the story I get to tell, it is by far what I am most passionate about. I will laugh with you, cry with you, dance with you, drink champagne with you, and be your HYPE GIRL all day long while documenting not only the traditional “wedding photos”, but by telling your story through the intimate details that will forever remind you of this day.

Their Love Story Begins

David, or as his friends and family call him, “Dooie”, first met Monica when his roommate introduced him to her. While there was an undeniable connection between the two, they didn’t end up going on their first day until 8 months later when Dooie asked Monica if she would go fly fishing with him! After spending the day together, they both knew that they found their person. A few weeks later, they both confessed to each other that they knew they were meant to spend the rest of their life with one another. Their marriage was truly written in the stars! ✨

Their Proposal Story

Dooie and Monica started dating in August, and only three weeks later, they discussed getting married and started searching for the perfect rings. When you know, you know! At Monica’s 70th wedding anniversary celebration, she and Doonie agreed to get married the next year on their 71thst wedding anniversary. He officially proposed to Monica several months later with her parents and brother present as they were sitting outside watching the sunset!

The Details

At this point we are sure that we sound like a broken record, however, we’ll say it again, wedding day details MATTER! And boy, oh boy, were Monica and Dooie’s wedding day details showing off.

I tried to very intentional with every detail of my wedding and make it a special weekend for everyone involved. Some of the unique details of my wedding included using my late grandmother’s shirt that my mom made into a sash for my bouquet. I was very close with my grandma and wanted to honor her spirit.

Monica Schwomeyer

In addition to honoring her Grandmother with her wedding details, Monica made sure that her wedding day accents represented her own individuality. If fact, since she refers to herself as a “crazy plant lady”, Katie Bennett with Mac’s Floral, a Cheers MT Vendor, suggested that she incorporate live potted plants into her table decor! Monica’s bouquets, also designed by Mac’s Floral, featured various shades of maroon and burgundy blooms with splashes of pink and white that completely tied these autumn-inspired arrangements together! Monica’s vision for her wedding day was completely brought to life and she states:

It all turned out better than I could have imagined and now I have some of the plants in our home that continue to remind us of our special day.

The Ceremony

The Schwomeyer’s one-of-a-kind wedding ceremony was hosted on her grandparent’s 71st wedding anniversary, and they both feel incredibly blessed that they were both able to attend and celebrate with them! Monica and Dooie had a small and intimate ceremony, with only around 30 of their closest friends, family, and loved ones in attendance. There was not a cloud in the sky, and this couple was able to tie the knot in a completely outdoor ceremony, as they’ve always dreamed they would!

Surrounded by those they love, Monica and Dooie were able to say “I Do” in the most perfect way!

The Intimate Reception

The Schwomeyers intimate wedding ceremony and reception were located at the beautiful, Red Lodge Mountain Resort. The Red Lodge Mountain Golf Course is nestled beneath the stunning Beartooth Mountains. No matter where you look, you will get a glimpse of this mountain range’s stunning landscapes which act as the perfect backdrop for any couple wanting to get married in the Big Sky State!

Surrounded by the beauty of this unique venue, Monica and Dooie spent the evening with family and friends, reminiscing on sentimental memories, and celebrating this couple’s powerful love for one another! While every detail was set to perfection for their big day, Monica will always fondly remember how her dad and grandpa provided music at their celebration! Both are musically gifted and were able to sing and play their guitars for the newlyweds and their guests. It is truly these unique and personal touches that make any wedding day special.
