Their Love Story Begins
“Jason and I were introduced by his sister and my aunt. Through fate!” Jen explains. The couple met in the little town, small bar, they still live and visit today in Brady, Montana.
Jen had just moved back home to Montana from Texas, and they both instantly bonded over being born in the same town, same hospital.

Their Proposal Story
Jen and I spent a weekend in the Columbia Falls area at the North Forty Resort cabins as a weekend getaway. It was so wonderful and memorable that it quickly became our favorite place.
So, understandably, it was the perfect spot to propose. It was in March and there was a dusting of new snow and it was the perfect setting to ask her to be my wife.
Dream Wedding Winners
Like many couples in 2020, Jen and Jason’s plans to get married were affected by Covid-19. Jen recounts:
Jason and I won this wonderful experience. In January, I had to quit my 8-year career in corrections due to COVID. My kiddos had to be home and be homeschooled. Jason shortly after was unemployed from the oilfield. After all these dramatic hits, we were blessed with this opportunity, couldn’t be more thankful. ♡
They were blessed with a wedding giveaway presented by Mountainside Weddings, Kelly Kirksey Photography, and Repeat Boutique Events & Design – and sponsored by many other local vendors. We are in awe of the big hearts we have in our Montana community. Read more at the very end of this post.
Their Wedding Day
The couple wed at Mountainside Weddings in Whitefish. An outdoor ceremony in an intimate, rustic setting with an elegant reception in their beautiful Pavillion.
The Bridal Suite
Jen and her girls got ready in the luxurious bridal suite onsite at Mountainside weddings – spoiled with mimosas, chocolate-covered strawberries, and a charcuterie board.
The Groom’s Tent
Jason and the guys got ready in the groom’s tent while they sipped on whiskey and enjoyed cigars and a charcuterie board.
The First Look
The bride and groom planned a first look to see each other before the ceremony. Such an incredibly special moment they will remember for a lifetime.
The Bridal Party
Royal and romantic, the bridal party were outfitted in gorgeous lilac and lavender flowing gowns – the perfect attire for a mountainside wedding.
The littlest ladies wore traditional white lace gowns with dainty floral crowns. Leading the way, the flower girls carried heart baskets bearing “here comes the bride”. Beautiful and elegant, just like Jennifer.
Bright and vibrant bouquets in shades of pink, purple, and cream accompanied the bridesmaids as they made their way down the aisle. The rich-hued flowers complimented the outdoor setting of Montana’s natural beauty.
Dashing and classic, the groomsmen, along with the groom, were all very dapper – sporting a fun, vintage vibe with bowties and suspenders. In unison with the bridal bouquets, delicate boutonnieres adorned their lapels of cream and rosy pink.
The ring bearer proudly led the way with “daddy, here comes our girl” – a beautiful and sentimental way to celebrate the processional start. And because furry babies are family too, both playful pups celebrated this special day as well.
Surrounded by their closest family and friends, Jen and Jason exchanged vows in a sun-filled, outdoor ceremony in the heart of a woodland wonderland.
With rustic and bohemian touches throughout the wedding, guests were welcomed with tributes to family – and in true Montana style, décor included antlers, a wine barrel, and classic signs throughout. Water-colored order of events kept guests informed on the timeline.
The ceremony arbor, beautifully adorned with vivid blooms and flowing ribbon, greeted Jen and Jason as they joined their lives together as husband and wife.
And the party began! Guests were welcomed to the reception with an invitation to sign the couple’s guest book – a beautifully framed illustration of the newlyweds that will serve as a treasured keepsake.
Inside, elegant tablescapes full of Montana charm filled the room. Embellishments included rustic antlers, classic votives, and rich and vivid florals. Perfect place settings awaited guests to eat, drink, and be merry!
The evening’s cuisine included a charcuterie board, olive tapenade, and huckleberry tarts and guests saved room for the decadent three-tiered cake.
The sparkler send-off concluded the day’s celebration, illuminating the path to the beginning of happily ever after.
David and Lorraine of Mountainside Weddings, Kelly of Kelly Kirksey Photography, and Trisha and Patti of Repeat Boutique Events & Design all came together to organize a Dream Montana Giveaway in response to COVID-19. What a blessing to Jen and Jason, and also a blessing for our community to witness this level of kindness and compassion.
Their why: COVID-19 has impacted us all in a very big way. As Montanans, we stick together in tough times, and we know there are some amazing couples out there whose dreams have been crushed because of the impact of COVID-19. But we are ready to make the largest pool of lemonade out of the lemons that COVID has left behind.
